Nottingham’s Victoria Centre and The Salvation Army hope to bring a smile to over 700 local children and teenagers this year as they launch their Christmas Present Appeal.

Victoria Centre with Heart 106 begins the countdown to Christmas with a spectacular family event on Wednesday 17th November between 7.00 – 8.00 pm in a festive open air setting. During the fun-filled programme, Heart 106 presenters Sam, Amy and Dangerous Dave will prepare the crowd to welcome Santa and his live reindeer – a first for Victoria Centre and Nottingham shoppers.

Staff members employed by Victoria Centre to keep the popular Nottingham shopping destination well-managed, clean and safe are set to win Awards when shoppers cast their votes during Customer Services Week 2010 which runs from Monday 4th October.

Nottingham’s Victoria Centre is partnering with the local Salvation Army on a food drive which hopes to collect ‘a mountain of food’ – at least £2,500 worth of tinned and dried food, enough to feed 500 local people.

Six Nottinghamshire charities have been selected to receive a generous donation from Victoria Centre in its annual round of giving to worthy local projects. The six were chosen from a strong set of applications and clearly demonstrated how the funds will be spent and the impact the specific project will make.

Chocks away….as Victoria Centre Summer of Fun activities continue with exhilarating rides in the RAF Flight Simulator (Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th August) and high-speed competition in The Scalextric Challenge (Saturday 28th – Monday 30th August).

Victoria Centre is introducing bespoke mall units for smaller businesses in a drive to support local enterprise. The latest mall installation has been taken by Danielle Gotheridge, Proprietor of ‘Your Unique Day’ celebration cake company and is designed to enhance the shopper’s experience by offering local, artisan products.

SpongeBob SquarePants will meet and greet cartoon fans of all ages as the Nickelodeon favourite visits the Victoria Centre this August.

Victoria Centre Nottingham has appointed Integra Communications Limited to handle regional public relations and media communications from May 2010. Nottingham-based Integra Communications is working with the Centre’s marketing team to maximise publicity for its seasonal events, key news stories and community support work.

Over the past few weeks, families have been encouraged to nominate their most cherished family member in a bid to win Victoria Centre’s competition to find the ‘Unsung Family Hero’ of 2010.
